Lindsay Lohan Sentenced to 30 Days in County Jail for Violating Probation

Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 30 days in county jail for violating the terms of her probation for misdemeanor grand theft. During her progress report at the Los Angeles Airport Courthouse Lindsay Lohan admitted that she failed to fulfill the terms of her probation involving volunteering at a downtown Los Angeles women's center and attending therapy.

When a person is placed on probation they can avoid having to serve additional custody time but must follow the terms of probation imposed by the judge. Some common terms of probation require that you remain drug or alcohol free, they can also require participation in drug or alcohol or anger management counseling, perform community service and obey all laws. You also give up your right to freedom from searches of your residence, person, car and belongings. People on probation in California usually have to report back to the judge as instructed to give the judge progress reports. If a person fails to comply with the terms of their probation the judge can impose additional terms including additional jail time.
